Christmas

Christmas is coming, and we're busy to put it together. A lot of stress in the air with Art's niece. First she was coming, and now she's not...crazy and frustrating.

Sara already opened a few presents...gotta put them further out of reach, I guess. Art thinks he should be able to open his presents too...silly boy.

Lots of fun snow! hehe...

Merry Christmas Everyone! I'll post our Christmas card soon!

Chaos

Since my last post things have been crazy. I got a job at Hobby Lobby, and started going to school full time in August.
September is always a crazy month with at least 4 birthdays and probably 6 parties to celebrate them.
Art turned 24. Sara and I made him a little banner and we went out to the new Texas Roadhouse. It was an interesting experience. Our server was prolly the loudest most annoying server I've ever met! He told Art to yell if it was an amazing steak, when Art wouldn't the server did it for him, calling Art by name. The server also repeatedly said, "Texas Roadhouse will change your life!" and left us with, "come back again and we'll change your life another time!" Weirdo...
On the way out, a million ppl asked how our experience was...I clutched Sara to me and raced through as if for a touch down...where we'd be safe from creepy smiles!

Sara turned one! She'd been walking for a month already. We took her to the mall to play on all the foam toys...her favorite place! All the kids showed up and she loved it! We set up a cardboard castle for her! She loved that too! Of course she had it torn up after 3 days, with the help of her cousins of course! hehe.

By one Sara:
could walk,
had four teeth,
danced,
loved Shrek,
could drink from a cup on her own,
and much more!

She now loves Babe the movie, has 11 teeth (3 big molars)! and has said her first understood and recongizable word! BOO! She loves Peekaboo.

We're doing well. We hope Art will get back on at Schribers next month.

Art pulled a Bryan!

So, if you know Bryan, you know what this means: stiches or cast. This time, it was stitches. Art cut his thumb half way through. It was at the tip and through the nail! Obviously, there was plenty of power behind his chop! Don't worry, all those eating at Iggy's were not served contaminated green onions. He grabbed the closest rag to stop the blood from spreading. It may have been an oil-nasty-all-day-used rag, but the important thing is, there was not a lot of blood at his station.

The manager drove him to the hospital and I get a text at 10:30 "Get a car and go to the hospital i cut my hand". That won't make a wife nervous! So, my half asleep baby was woken. I called Shelly and asked her to watch Sara. I didn't want to drag her to the hospital in only a diaper and then carry her around who knows where at all hours of the night.

It all worked out though. Sara went to sleep for Shelly and Art only needed partial fingernail removal and 7 stitches. His thumb will live to see another day! As for my nerves, if they die with him it shouldn't be so bad with the kids, right? hehehehe....ya right.

Pioneer Day with Grandma Best

We decided to go to the Jenson Historical Farm since we didn't have any big plans. They were letting people in for free and Mom wanted to take Sara. Shelly and Jared joined us! Mom bought Sara a little buffaloo hand puppet, Sara laughed at.

Sara and Art were able to pet a mini goat. There were some just Alex and Sara's size! They all seemed to be very friendly, but mostly uninterested.

There were too many kids to get a chance at panning for gold, but we got to try a homemade sugar scrub and walk through a bunker. It was hot, so Mom bought us all cold waters! I couldn't talk Art into going through the sprinklers they had going; they looked like firemen hoses. :)

We went through the old house and Art was impressed with how steep the steps were. It was a lot of fun.

We'll have to go back when we have more time. Art needed to be to work. Sara and I went out to Mom's AC temp house. :)

All in all, it was a very successful day; Art had more fun than he expected.

Night Time Woes

For the last four nights Sara has been crying herself to sleep. She's more whiny and cuddly than she's ever been. Since I'm not use to holding her 24/7 my body is getting sore. My head hurts, and I want to cry with her. I think I'm going to take her to the doctor on Monday. I can't take much more of this.
I've been told it could be teething, growing pains, or attachment issues. I think it's growing pains, but I want to make sure. I don't want her to be suffering without reason. It makes me feel completely helpless to think I can't do any more for her. I've been on some lows with her, but this is starting to scrap the bottom.
Hopefully we can solve this soon. So far only daddy can comfort her, but he can't be here when she goes to bed.
I love my daughter dearly and hope all is well, though it obviously isn't...

Long Days and Longer Nights

Well, Art's tooth, or lack of it, got infected. It's been a real bugger and cost a day and a half from a pay check (not the worst thing to happen, but causes more stress). He's taking care of it, but it keeps him up some nights.

It is incredibly hot. The kind of hot that makes you sick to your stomach and too tired to get out of bed. The day stretches on and on...all I want is for the sun to set. You can take three showers a day and still not get rid of all the sweat. Water is my best friend.

Sara is doing well, but she has decided nap time can be screwed with. One day she'll only take a morning nap, in which case I have to keep her awake for 3-4 hours more than she'd like. Other days, she takes the mid-afternoon nap, and leaves me exhausted wishing I could sleep, but knowing I have so much to do. After all, one day of a missed nap and I'm two days behind on chores. I don't know what I'm going to do when she quits naps all together.

This morning she woke up at 5! and was awake for an hour. It was tough on Art and me. I was sick oddly enough. He was exhausted from work. So, we took turns trying to stay awake so she didn't bawl and wake us both up. She was sweet at times. We turned a movie on, and she sat in her crib staring through the bars at the show. Then came and curled up with me to fall asleep. Art told me today, the movie woke him up every 15 mins and he'd be mad he missed some, then fall back to sleep. He was glad and sad when the credits rolled around.

The other day Art and Sara got in to a wrestling match. I'll let the picture explain that. :)

Also, Sara has learned to give Art kisses. He puckers up and she lays a slobbery one on him. He loves it! Had to run into the bedroom and wake me up so I could come see...Such a proud father. Will she give me kisses when I ask? No...Dad's all play and Mom settles for the serious!

We babysat a friend the other day. His name is Sam, he's 2-3 months older than Sara, same size, of course. She beat him up...Let me make a note to everyone, my child needs supervision when playing with yours.

Sara has learned to dance. It involves mostly the arms. Lots of swinging and smiling ---->

Sometimes, she even rocks back and forth on her bum. It is adorable!

Lots is happening, but there's too much to write in one post, guess I tell you everything.

Donuts/Swimming/Napping

We made donuts Thursday night. It was mess, fun, and chaotic. We forgot to put the sugar in, when it was suppose to go in. Put it in at the end. It worked out though. Getting the oil to the right temperature was difficult, and getting it to stay there more so. Now we have too many donuts...so I guess we shouldn't make that much next time.

Today was a lot of fun. We cooked some pizza and went swimming. Sara loved every minute, again. Big Sara was there to enjoy it as well. We wandered around the pool, took turns off the diving board, and just had a grand old time. Shelly, Jared, and Alex also joined us. They got there a little later, thought. Jared did a cannon ball, but of course Art's was still bigger.

We grabbed a free slushee on the way home! Yum!
Sara hasn't taken a real nap today. She had fifteen mins before swimming, and 45 mins after, but hasn't slept since. She's being grumpy about it too! I was hoping sleeping beauty would help her relax, but nope. Guess I'll have to wait it out and then sleep with her so I'll be able to be awake with her later. I miss her schedule, these teeth are messing it all up!!!

Art's still sore from his teeth being yanked, but hopefully he'll be ok at work tonight. Had to come home early yesterday, poor guy. I love him and am so grateful he's strong!

Sidewalk Sale/Job Hunting

I decided I should walk shop to shop today, and search for a job. What do we find? There's a sidewalk sale. Lots of people, lots of heat, but I continue on anyway. Shop after shop they tell me they're not hiring. Some say maybe, but nothing firm. Some aren't even accepting applications. So, there we have it. I'll send in applications anyway, but it's overly depressing.

On the plus side, we found a little denim baseball cap that Sara seems to enjoy. Her father gave her a bite of ice cone and now I think she's addicted...I should prolly go wash that onsie, cuz it is now pink all over. So cute!

Sara's asleep and Art is having teeth yanked...so I figured I'd better blog while I had the chance. Tonight I'm going to have two babies on my hands! Oh how I love them both!

Christmas 2008

Life with the Art Talamante Jr Clan

I've decided to start a blog. Everyone else is doing it and I enjoy jumping off cliffs. "So, why not?" I ask myself. This way all those relatives who don't get to see Sara enough, can see her as often as they like.

Sara is 9 months and trying her hardest to walk. She crawls like a maniac out of the living room when we give her the chance. The other day she did try a silent retreat when Art and I were playing a game. It made Art laugh.

Art is working at Iggy's Sports Grill. I may think his GM is a blazing imbusile, but that isn't a reason to give up on a job, heaven knows we've had difficulty getting them. He has his moments of wishing we had more money, but we are a happy family. Memories are a better payment anyway.

I'm staying at home for now. Tomorrow we'll walk the town looking for morning jobs I can apply for; cross your fingers! I don't know how I'm going to manage keeping the house half decent and a job with Sara occupying my every moment, but I am strong.

I am so thankful for what I have been blessed with. I pray my little family will continue to grow in laughs and lessons, building a foundation on love.
